A family owned and operated enterprise based in central
Mid-Canterbury, South Island, New Zealand.
The flat terrain of the farm sits at 235m elevation.
Cattle are wintered on green feed, pasture silage and
cereal straw. The first cattle purchased in 1989 were
Angus, Hereford and Angus-Hereford cross breed (36 animals
in total).
Embryo transplant programmes were run for the first
three summers when Salers were first introduced into
New Zealand. Embryos were primarily sourced from Canada.
Salers bulls cover the commercial mixed breed cows.
To diversify existing blood-lines, artificial insemination
using imported semen is on going.
Currently the Salers herd comprises of 70 mixed age
breeding cows all going to the bull in December 2002.
All pure stock are recorded through ABRI Breedplan,
Australia.
Visitors are always welcome.
